Our activity

An engineering firm specialised in miniature instrumentation

Founded in 1992, LESCATE is a French engineering firm specialised in miniature instrumentation, in particular the application of strain gauges. These sensors measure the mechanical deformation of materials with extreme precision.

Bonded directly onto the structures under study, the gauges detect minute changes in length, on the order of a micrometre, revealing strain levels and allowing the stresses or loads within a structure to be derived.

Beyond strain gauges, LESCATE also implements instrumentation for measuring other physical parameters, in particular pressure and temperature.

Expertise

A craftsman's level of precision

Applying these sensors is a task of very high precision. The average gauge measures around 5 mm, and can be as small as 1 mm.

Their installation requires meticulous surface preparation, rigorous positioning under a binocular microscope on the areas of deformation (positioning tolerance below 0.5 mm for certain applications), together with complete mastery of bonding, wiring and protection techniques.

          This expertise, at the crossroads of mechanics, materials science and metrology, is a true craftsman's trade.
